Guarded Words, Preserved Life

Recently I attending a teaching where the Pastor spoke of the scripture below and I wanted to share some thoughts on this.

Proverbs 13:3 (NKJV) – “He who guards his mouth preserves his life, but he who opens wide his lips shall have destruction.”

In a world that encourages us to say whatever we feel, whenever we feel it, this verse reminds us of a different kind of strength, the quiet strength of self-control.

As blooming women of Christ, we are called to speak life not just into others, but into our own journeys. There is power in the words we choose and wisdom in knowing when silence speaks louder than speech. Proverbs 13:3 offers us both protection and promise: when we guard our mouths, we preserve our peace, our purpose, and often, our relationships.

Maybe you have been tempted lately to say something out of frustration…
Maybe someone has spoken carelessly to you, and you have carried those words longer than you should…

Let this be your gentle reminder: your voice is sacred. Not everything requires a response. Not every moment is a platform. And sometimes, guarding your words is the very thing that protects your heart.

Reflection for Today:
Ask the Lord to help you speak with grace, wisdom, and restraint.
When tempted to react, pause and pray.
Let your words bloom with love, truth, and healing.
