Temptations
Have you ever been tempted to do something you knew was not right? In the moment, did you pause to think about how it could affect your relationship, your family, or your walk with Christ?
Temptation does not always show up in obvious ways. Sometimes it comes through words, emotional connections, or quiet moments of vulnerability. Other times, it appears more directly and tests our self-control in very real ways. When temptation presents itself, how do you respond? Were you strong enough to walk away, or did you give in?
Scripture reminds us that temptation is a common experience, but it is not meant to rule us. The Bible says, “No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it” (1 Corinthians 10:13, NKJV). Temptation may come, but God always provides a way to respond with wisdom and obedience.
The challenge is not the presence of temptation, but what we choose to do when it arrives. James reminds us when it says, “But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed. Then, when desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin” (James 1:14–15, NKJV). Temptation begins internally, and how we guard our hearts determines whether it takes root or loses its power.
As believers who love Christ, we are called to do more than resist temptation in our own strength. We are invited to rely on God’s help and direction. Scripture encourages us, “Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak” (Matthew 26:41, NKJV). Prayer keeps us alert, grounded, and aware of our dependence on God.
The good news is that walking with Christ equips us to handle temptation differently. We are not defined by our moments of struggle, but by our willingness to turn toward God, choose obedience, and grow in spiritual maturity. When temptation arises, we have the opportunity to respond with faith, integrity, and trust in the One who strengthens us.
